For some people, attending church can be an intimidating endeavor. Here we explain what to expect to help take the edge off the experience.
Where to go:
Parking is available on the street along East McMillan and Ashland Avenue. We do have access to the parking lot at the Christ Emmanuel office building on the opposite corner of EMcMillan and Ashland.
Enter in the main entrance facing East McMillan. Once inside the lobby, grab a cup of coffee if you like, and proceed up the stairs to the worship area.
What to wear:
Feel free to dress casually. In the summer, people wear flip-flops in shorts in our gatherings. In the winter, jeans and long sleeves are the norm. Rarely does anyone wear a dress or suite/tie, but you'll feel at home even if you do.
What we do:
Our gatherings are intentionally simple, as we believe the earliest Christians worshiped modestly. We have a short time of musical worship, with some Scripture readings scattered throughout. Every week we invite Christians to observe communion in order to focus our thoughts on Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. We then have a message brought by one of our church leaders where we thoroughly examine a portion of the Bible to observe God's message to us. Sunday gatherings tend to last one hour.
What about kids?
Echo Kids consists of supervised child care for infants through toddlers and Bible lessons and activities for elementary-aged students. School-aged kids stay in the main worship gathering throughout our singing time and then depart to their own classroom. Our kids rooms were recently renovated and fully secure from outside access.
